Aloo Paratha Recipe

Aloo Paratha - For rainy season here's a yummy Aloo ka Paratha recipe for all of you. You can serve it at breakfast or lunch with a condiment. Here is the step by step process for you with the photos and short video of the recipe.

ALOO PARATHA RECIPE | ALOO KA PARATHA | ALU PARATHA
INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING PARATHA DOUGH
  • 2 Cups (200 GMS) – Wheat Flour
  • 1 tsp – Salt (or) as required
  • 1 Cup – Water, to knead
  • 2 tsp – Oil
INGREDIENTS FOR PARATHA STUFFING
  • 1 Cup (200 GMS) potatoes (aloo) – boiled & mashed
  • 1/2 tsp – Turmeric (Haldi)
  • 1/2 tsp – Garam Masala Powder
  • 1/2 tsp – Coriander Powder (Dhaniya)
  • 1/2 tsp – Dry Mango Powder (Amchur)
  • 1/2 tsp – Red Chili Powder (Laal Mirch)
  • 1 tsp - Salt (or) as required
  • 1/4th tsp – Green Chili (Hari Mirch) Chopped
  • 1 tsp – Coriander leaves chopped (Dhaniya)
INGREDIENTS FOR COOKING PARATHA
  • Oil (Or) Butter as required

INSTRUCTIONS – For Kneading Dough 
  • Firstly, take a Flour mixing bowl.
  • Add 2 cups of wheat flour, with 1 teaspoon of salt and oil mix it.
  • Now add 1 cup of water and start kneading it for 5 – 6 minutes, also add the water as and when required until it becomes a soft dough.
  • Furthermore, grease the dough with 1 teaspoon of oil and rest it for 10 – 20 minutes.
INSTRUCTIONS – For Paratha Stuffing –
  • Take a medium-size mixing bowl to add 1 cup (200 GMS) mashed potatoes (Aloo) in it.
  • Now add 1/2 teaspoon of Turmeric (Haldi), 1/2 teaspoon of Garam Masala powder, 1/2 teaspoon of Coriander (Dhaniya) powder, 1/2 teaspoon of Dry Mango (Amchur) Powder and 1/2 teaspoon of Red Chili (Lal Mirch) powder, 1 teaspoon of Salt (Namak) as per your preference, then add 1/4th teaspoon of Green Chili (Hari Mirch) chopped with 1 teaspoon of Coriander (Dhaniya) leaves chopped.
  • Mix all the ingredients well and keep it aside.
INSTRUCTIONS – For Paratha Stuffing and Cooking 

  • Firstly, pinch a medium ball sized dough, roll about 5 inches in diameter.
  • Apply little oil onto it and sprinkle some wheat flour.
  • Now add 3 teaspoons of Potato (Aloo) paratha stuffing in the center and again sprinkle some wheat flour on it, by doing this dough will not get moisture and spread over while rolling it.
  • Take the edges and start pleating by bringing the stuffing to center and flatten it slightly.
  • Furthermore, sprinkle some flour and gently start rolling the paratha and maintain your preferable size.
  • On the other hand side, heat a tawa add little oil and spread it over with the help of a cooking spoon.
  • Once the tawa becomes hot place the rolled paratha to it. Start cooking the paratha by pressing it gently and flip the paratha to the other side and apply oil and then press it slightly until it is well cooked.
  • Finally, dish out the paratha and have it with your loved ones.

INSTRUCTIONS – For Kneading Dough

1. Firstly, take a Flour mixing bowl



2. Add 2 cups (200 gms) of wheat flour



3. Add 1 teaspoon of salt



4. Add 1 teaspoon of oil



5. Now add 1 cup of water ( Also add it when required)



6. Start kneading it for 5 – 6 minutes until it becomes a soft dough



7. Furthermore, grease the dough with 1 teaspoon of ghee and rest it for 10 – 20 minutes



INSTRUCTIONS – For Paratha Stuffing –
1. Further, in a large mixing bowl take 200 gms boiled and mashed potato



2. Add 1/2 teaspoon of Turmeric (Haldi), 1/2 teaspoon of Garam Masala powder, 1/2 teaspoon of Coriander (Dhaniya) powder, 1/2 teaspoon of Dry Mango (Amchur) Powder and 1/2 a teaspoon of Red Chili (Lal Mirch) powder, 1 teaspoon of Salt (Namak) as per your preference, then add 1/4th teaspoon of Green Chili (Hari Mirch) chopped with 1 teaspoon of Coriander (Dhaniya) leaves chopped



3. Mix well making sure all the spices are combined well



INSTRUCTIONS – For Paratha Stuffing and Cooking –
1. Pinch a ball sized wheat dough and dust with some wheat flour



2. Roll it in a circle of about 5 to 5.5 inches in diameter



3. Apply little oil onto it and sprinkle some wheat flour



4. Now add 3 teaspoons of Potato (Aloo) paratha stuffing in the center and again sprinkle some wheat flour on it, by doing this dough will not get moisture and spread over while rolling it



5. Take the edges and start pleating by bringing the stuffing to center and flatten it slightly



6. Furthermore, sprinkle some flour and gently start rolling the paratha and maintain your preferable size



7. Heat a tawa add little oil and spread it over with the help of a cooking spoon



8. Once the tawa becomes hot, place the rolled paratha to it. Start cooking the paratha by pressing it gently and flip the paratha to the other side and apply oil and then press it slightly until it is well cooked



9. Finally, dish out the paratha and have it with your loved ones ♥


Notes: According to my experience, I have noticed that some potatoes vary their texture once it is boiled. Some will remain dry & soft while mashing the one we required it and some will be too soft & watery kind of, in this case, you can add poha(flattened rice) to make the texture stable.
For beginners, I recommend not to overstuff the stuffing as it may be difficult to roll the paratha.
Here I have used the wheat flour for making paratha. If you like using maida instead you can.
